En la oscuridad. ¡Nuevo libro!/En la oscuridad (In the Darkness). New book!

When your parents turn off the lights and leave your bedroom, do you hear strange noises, cover you head with the blankets, and stop breathing? What is in the room with you? Is it a witch with a pointy hat or a vampire that wants to suck your blood? If you want to find out what is going on in those dark moments, read this story and enjoy Fabricio Vanden Broeck's illustrations that will tell you exactly what's in the room with you. En la oscuridad is of the Buenas Noches collection of Editorial Norma and the presentation will take place on November 9, 2013, during the Feria de Libro Infantil y Juvenil (FILIJ), the International Children's Book Fair at the Centro Nacional de las Artes, Churubusco and Tlalpan, Mexico City.

Te va a encantar.

I love fantasy. Since I was a child, I had a great time reading, for example, the Mary Poppins books, written by P. L. Travers; the Narnia books, written by C. S. Lewis, and many others. My imagination flew with them and I, as well as the characters, experienced all the adventures. I'd close the door to my room and could spend hours in other worlds different than mine. Imagination is so powerful! You can be in your room but your mind is in a fantastic world where anything can happen. Years later, when the Harry Potter books came out, I joined the legion of readers who fell into their pages and I enjoyed them like a child. Do you like fantasy? In that case, which is your favorite book or which are your favorite books? This is a doll of Mary Poppins, used by the author P. L. Travers as a model for her magical nanny, so, if you live in NewYork or are planning on going there before March 2014 ends, go to the New York Public Library and see if and many other books and things. You'll love it!

Kids, I just got back from New York and had the chance to see the marvelous exhibit of children's books at the NY Public Library. I also loved the fact that I saw many of the books that I read as a child and which continue to be favorites to this day. If you have the chance to, take your parents and
visit it because, besides seeing the books, the way they are exhibiteid is fascinating. I'll upload some more photos later on but, in the meantime, here I am standing inside the silhouette of Max, from Where the WIld Things Are and which, on the other side, is covered in fake fur. There are also books like Mary Poppins (plus P.L. Traver's parrot-headed umbrella), The Secret Garden, The Phantom Tollbooth, comics, antique books, a selection of banned books (in the US), and a huge etcetera. It's well worth it to spend two or three hours there, surrounded by colors, letters, and good friends.

Want to have good time? Look for a book that you like a lot. Got it? Perfect! Look for a sheet of paper and a pencil and sit in a comfortable chair next to a table or a desk. Now, choose the character that you liked the most  of that book. It doesn't have to be the main character... it can be a dog or even the villain because, many times, villains can be fun. Next, imagine that you're that character and you have a big problem, you have to solve it, so you're going to write a letter to someone who can help you solve it. What's the problem you're in? Who will you write to? What will that person or being suggest? Will you do it or not? Give your imagination wings even if you come up with really crazy things. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun.

Where the Wild Things Are/Donde viven los monstruos by/de Maurice Sendak

Today the great Maurice Sendak would have celebrated his birthday and become 85 years old. One of his most famous books is Where the Wild Things Are. Have you read it? If so, then you'll understand why you can read it many times without getting bored. Sendak is one of my favorite authors and this book is delightful because Max and the wild things are characters that you'll always have in your heart. If you haven't read it, what are you waiting for? Run and get it, sit in a confortable sofa or lie in your bed leaning on a bunch of pillows and enjoy it. Then, if you liked it, look for more of his books like In the Night Kitchen, Mummy?, and the Little Bear books written by Else Holmelund Minarik and illustrated by him. And, visit Google's page today and see the animated doodle they honored him with.

Rowling.

I love fantasy. I love witches, dragons, fairies, elfs, and dwarfs. I love mermaids and ghosts. I'm fascinated by the gods of yore and those of today. I love Ray Bradbury's books, those rewitten by P.L. Travers, who imagined Mary Poppins; those penned by C.S. Lewis, in which he told us about Narnia and its incredible creatures, and Pilip Pullman's wonderful trilogy featuring Lyra. I also love Neil Gaiman and J.K. Rowling.

Do you like fantasy as much as I do? Which are your favorite authors and books?

¡Bienvenido! Welcome!

Hi, this is ablog for little and big kids, including adults who feel that they're still kids. Since I'm bilingual, there will be information in Spanish and English, the two languages I speak since I was little. I'll tell you a bit about my books and, when I can, I'll include a few fun activities that you can do. I hope you'll have as much fun with the stories as I've had writing them!
